Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash near Lorton
Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred yesterday near Lorton.
On December 7 at 9:51 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at Richmond Highway and Backlick Road near Lorton.
Officers determined that the driver of a 2008 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Richmond Highway approaching Backlick Road. The pedestrian, Roger Brown, 67, of Fort Belvoir, was crossing the road when he was struck by the vehicle. Brown was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda was uninjured and remained on scene.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
