Reflecting on FCPD Community Engagement in 2025
Fairfax County, VA – As we wrap up 2025, the Fairfax County Police Department remains deeply committed to serving and connecting with our community across all eight police districts. This year reflected the strength of our partnerships, the dedication of our officers and professional staff, and the continued growth of programs designed to educate, engage, and maintain trust with the people we serve.

A Year of Community Engagement
Throughout 2025, our Crime Prevention Unit demonstrated an unwavering commitment to community engagement, conducting more than 1,300 community events, safety and prevention presentations, and meetings with residents. These efforts were supported by our Crime Prevention officers, Community Outreach officers, and district-based teams, ensuring meaningful connections at the neighborhood level and a consistent presence countywide.
From large-scale events to small group discussions, these interactions allowed officers to listen, share resources, and work alongside community members to address safety concerns and strengthen relationships.
Strengthening Faith-Based Partnerships
Through Faith and Blue initiatives, the Fairfax County Police Department continued to build and strengthen relationships with houses of worship across Fairfax County. Officers participated in public events, delivered safety and security presentations, conducted security assessments, and hosted active violence preparedness trainings. These partnerships remain a vital part of our outreach strategy, helping faith communities feel informed, prepared, and supported.
Expanding Outreach Through New Programs
In 2025, Fairfax County launched its first Junior Police Academy for youth ages 10–14. Meeting monthly, participants gained firsthand exposure to various units and functions within the department, including the Helicopter Unit, Crime Scene Investigations, K-9, and other specialized areas. The program also provided consistent, positive interactions with officers, helping build trust, understanding, and early connections at a formative age.
Another standout initiative was Everyone Eats, a six-week cooking and leadership program for youth ages 12–18. Participants learned essential cooking skills, received cookware, and developed leadership and life skills. Officers worked alongside participants throughout the program, fostering mentorship, teamwork, and positive engagement while building relationships beyond traditional enforcement roles.

Bringing Neighbors Together
National Night Out once again highlighted the power of community connection, with more than 140 community locations hosting events across Fairfax County. Officers joined residents for block parties, cookouts, and neighborhood gatherings, reinforcing the shared commitment to safety and collaboration.

Community outreach and crime prevention remain fundamental to our mission, and we look forward to continuing this work in 2026.
