Detectives Seek Drivers in Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Huntington
Mount Vernon Police District — Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Huntington.
Yesterday, at 9:48 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Richmond Highway and Mount Eagle Drive in Huntington for a pedestrian who was struck by at least four vehicles.
Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Demarko Shamsiddin, 34, of no fixed address, was in the northbound travel lanes of Richmond Hwy just north of Mount Eagle Drive. Video footage located nearby showed Shamsiddin acting erratically in the roadway, lying down and doing push-ups. The driver of an unknown dark colored sedan was traveling northbound on Richmond Highway and struck Shamsiddin. He was subsequently struck by other vehicles. Shamsiddin was pronounced deceased at the scene. None of the striking vehicles remained on scene.
The investigation into the crash continues as detectives work to identify the drivers of the vehicles involved.
