Detectives Investigating Fatal Vehicle Crash in Springfield

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that left one woman dead in Springfield.

On January 10 at 7:45 a.m., officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Huntsman Boulevard in Springfield.

Preliminarily, a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling northbound on Fairfax County Parkway when the driver lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes. The driver of a 2023 Ford F-150, traveling southbound, struck the Chevrolet. The driver of a 2025 Honda HR-V, also traveling southbound, was unable to brake in time and rear-ended the Ford F-150.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier, Jane Clayton, 48, of Alexandria, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the Ford F-150 and Honda HRV were uninjured.

Preliminarily, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate whether speed was a factor.
