Make the Right Call on Game Day: Super Bowl Safety Tips From FCPD
Fairfax County, VA – As excitement builds for the 2026 Super Bowl, the Fairfax County Police Department wants everyone to enjoy the game and get home safely. Whether you’re watching from home, a local restaurant, or a Super Bowl party, planning ahead can make all the difference.
This reminder comes as our officers have recently responded to several serious incidents involving impaired drivers, including multiple crashes where drunk drivers struck police vehicles while officers were actively conducting enforcement. Those officers were out there to keep the community safe, and those crashes were entirely preventable. It is not worth it.

Super Bowl Safety Tips
Plan Ahead
Arrange transportation before the game starts. Use rideshare services, public transportation, or designate a sober driver if alcohol is involved.
Celebrate Responsibly
Pace yourself, stay hydrated, and check in on friends. Make sure everyone has a safe way home before the night ends.
Stay Aware
Crowded venues can be fun but distracting. Pay attention to your surroundings and look out for one another.
Never Drink and Drive
If you’ve been drinking, do not drive. A short ride home is always better than a life-altering decision.
Secure Your Home
Heading out? Lock your doors, turn on exterior lighting, and consider using a security system for added peace of mind.
To help keep everyone safe throughout the weekend, FCPD officers, including our Traffic Division, will be conducting increased enforcement across the county, with a focus on impaired driving and unsafe behavior.
Enjoy the game, look out for one another, and make safe choices.
