No Filter Needed: Repeat Sephora Theft Suspect Arrested

Reston Police District – Officers from the Reston District Station’s Neighborhood Patrol Unit (NPU), with assistance from detectives from our Reston Criminal Investigations Division, have charged a suspect connected to a series of thefts at a retail store in Reston.

On January 29 at 2:23 p.m., NPU officers responded to 11960 Market Street at Sephora in Reston for a reported larceny. Loss prevention saw a suspect inside the store, concealing merchandise. The suspect left the store before officers arrived.

NPU officers, patrol officers, and detectives saturated the area and located the suspect nearby. After a brief foot pursuit, detectives took Jose Gomez Carranza, 22, of Herndon into custody. Detectives and Loss Asset Protection partners reviewed surveillance footage and connected Gomez to seven prior larcenies at the store since December. In each incident, he stole various perfumes and beauty products.
