Suspect Arrested After Shooting in Springfield
West Springfield Police District— Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a man in connection with the February 6 shooting in Springfield.
On February 6, at 1:34 p.m., officers responded to the 7600 block of Cork Glen Way in Springfield for a shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers began performing life-saving measures until relieved by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel. The victim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.
Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau responded to assume the investigation. During a canvass of the neighborhood, two suspects were detained and later released by detectives.
Preliminarily, detectives determined that the victim arrived home while it was being burglarized. When the victim opened the door, he was shot once to the upper body. The suspects then exited the residence through the rear door and fled the scene.
On February 7, with the assistance of the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), detectives identified a 2014 white Infiniti Q50 used in the shooting. The vehicle was registered to Thomas Koroma, 20, of Alexandria. Koroma was arrested at approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 6 in the Mount Vernon District on unrelated firearm and drug charges and was being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
With support from the Technical Investigations Unit, detectives reviewed recovered surveillance footage and linked Koroma to the Springfield shooting earlier that day. Detectives then responded to the Adult Detention Center to obtain warrants.

Koroma was charged with Malicious Wounding, Armed Burglary, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He remains held on no bond
Detectives continue to conduct interviews and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
