Fairfax County Police Department News

Fairfax County, VA – After completing six months of intensive training, 55 recruits graduated today from the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy and are prepared to begin their careers in public safety across Northern Virginia. This graduating class includes 37 Fairfax County Police Department police officers, along with 14 deputy sheriffs going to the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, 2 police officers to the Herndon Police Department, and 2 police officers to the Vienna Police Department.

Throughout their time in the academy, recruits completed comprehensive instruction designed to prepare them for the demands of modern policing. Training included firearms instruction at the range, defensive tactics, tactical training, physical fitness and conditioning, and scenario-based exercises focused on real-world response.

Additionally, this graduating class brings valuable language skills and diverse life experiences to the region. Collectively, recruits speak more than 10 languages and represent more than a dozen countries of birth or upbringing.

This class also includes recruits with prior public safety experience, military service, and advanced academic credentials. These varied backgrounds reflect the Fairfax County Police Department’s continued commitment to recruiting a workforce that is representative of the community it serves.

We congratulate each graduate on reaching this milestone and commend them for their dedication throughout the academy. The Fairfax County Police Department looks forward to the service, professionalism, and commitment these new police officers and deputy sheriffs will bring to the communities they serve.
