Harrisonburg Man Charged in Merrifield Sexual Assault

Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Sex Crimes Unit have charged a man for sexually assaulting a victim in Merrifield.

On December 16, 2025, officers responded to the 2700 block of Prosperity Avenue in Merrifield for a Sexual Assault report. The victim reported that she was sexually assaulted in November of 2025 by a man she met online. Detectives from our Sex Crimes Unit were notified and assumed the investigation.

Detectives learned the victim met a man online who claimed to be a pastor. The two later met in person for what was described as a counseling session, during which the victim was sexually assaulted.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Marco Antonio Ocampos Zamora, 36, of Harrisonburg.

On February 27, with the assistance of the Harrisonburg Police, Ocampos Zamora was arrested at his residence and transported to the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail.

On March 4, Ocampos Zamora was extradited to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with Object Sexual Penetration and Abduction with Intent to Defile. He is being held on no bond.

Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victim is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
