Jane Bahneman Strengthens Women’s Health Programs Across FCPD

Fairfax County, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department is proud to highlight Jane Bahneman, Women’s Health Coordinator within the Fairfax County Occupational Health Center, whose work is strengthening wellness initiatives across both the Police Department and Fire and Rescue Department. As this newly established role continues to take shape, Jane is leading the effort to build and expand women’s health programming to better support the evolving needs of our workforce.

Jane joined the department in 2021, initially leading mind/body and yoga classes through early programming that has since grown into a broader network of wellness initiatives. In her current role, she lead’s the Health and Wellness Division’s effort to develop and implement programs that support the physical and mental well-being of public safety professionals.

With more than two decades of experience in the wellness field, Jane brings a strategic and holistic approach to health programming. Her work focuses on empowering individuals with practical tools to improve overall well-being, resilience, and performance both on and off duty.

Prior to joining Fairfax County, Jane founded Nectar Yoga Studios, where she successfully built and expanded wellness services across multiple locations, including mobile and virtual platforms. She has also held leadership roles at Georgetown University and the University of Virginia, and served as a clinical exercise physiologist, further strengthening her expertise in health and human performance.

Jane’s experience includes developing specialized wellness programs tailored to paramilitary and military populations, aligning closely with the needs of public safety personnel. Her ability to translate complex health concepts into accessible, actionable programs has helped foster a culture of wellness and support within the department.

Her contributions to the wellness field have earned national recognition, including being featured in a commercial aired during the 2021 Olympic Games. She is also a recognized speaker and educator, sharing insights on leadership, mental health, and holistic wellness practices with audiences nationwide.

Jane holds advanced degrees in exercise science and maintains numerous certifications in fitness, nutrition, public health, and yoga instruction. She is also trained in maternal and postpartum support, further enhancing the scope of care and resources available through her role.

Through her leadership, Jane continues to expand women’s health programming, strengthen interdepartmental collaboration, and support the overall well-being of those who serve Fairfax County’s communities. As this program continues to grow, the department welcomes feedback and input to help shape and adapt resources that best support our personnel.
