Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash Near Woodlawn
Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash near Woodlawn.
On April 3 at 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Pohick Road near Woodlawn.
Officers determined that the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Richmond Highway. The pedestrian, Anthony Williams, 67, of Maryland, was crossing Richmond Highway west to east at the intersection when he was struck by the Toyota.
Williams was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured and remained on scene.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver. Alcohol remains under investigation for the pedestrian.
