Road Shark Wave 2 Hooks Unsafe Drivers

Fairfax County, VA – Wave 2 of the Fairfax County Police Department’s Road Shark traffic safety campaign concluded on June 14 after a week of focused enforcement efforts across Fairfax County. Conducted in partnership with the Virginia State Police (VSP), the high-visibility initiative targets speeding, reckless driving, distracted driving, and other unsafe behaviors to improve roadway safety.

Between June 8 and June 14, officers issued 11,791 citations and warnings, including 5,740 citations and 6,051 warnings. For comparison, more than 8,250 citations and warnings were issued during Wave 2 of the 2025 campaign. These results highlight the continued importance of traffic safety and driver accountability across Fairfax County.

The Road Shark campaign emphasizes coordinated, strategic enforcement efforts to deter dangerous driving. With increased patrols and visibility, FCPD police officers and VSP troopers are working to change driver behavior, improve public safety, and protect lives on our roads.
