Fairfax County, VA Detectives from our Financial Crimes Unit have charged a local soccer coach with multiple counts of embezzlement and computer-related fraud.

On June 25, detectives received information through our Financial Crimes Online Reporting (FiCOR) system and subsequently identified 13 separate victims of a scam involving promised international soccer camps. Each victim lost between $2,000 and $12,000. After a thorough investigation, detectives determined that Ahmed Mohamed, 31, of Fairfax, had conducted a scam by virtue of his employment with the Alexandria Soccer Association, through which he targeted some of his victims. Current losses among known victims are estimated at nearly $60,000.

Mohamed had created the “Sporting Soccer Academy” in December of 2025 and targeted victims with advertisements of a travel summer camp in Italy. Mohamed collected money from victims under the false pretense of promised travel, camp arrangements, and lodging.
