Police Investigate Early Morning Hit and Run Pedestrian Crash
A 29-year-old man was struck by a vehicle around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, in the 6200 block of Columbia Pike. An investigation determined the man was walking east in the left westbound travel lane of Columbia Pike, near the dam. A passerby, traveling in the opposite direction, saw the man walking unsteadily in the travel lane and turned around to go back and check on him. When they returned to the location they found the man injured, lying on the road, and called police.
The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. There is no information available on the striking vehicle; however, the vehicle may have damage to its driver-side mirror and possibly the driver-side front headlight area.
