UPDATE: Suspected Purse Thief Photos Released
TRAFFIC PURSUIT/PWID OF MARIJUANA/ARREST: Richmond Highway/Quander Road, 3/7/17, around 6 p.m. Officers attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation when the driver took off and refused to stop. Responding officers assisted in getting the suspect’s car stopped and found two young children inside. Additionally, narcotics were found in the car. Monique Reid, 27, of Alexandria was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and eluding law enforcement.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED/RESISTING ARREST: 4300 Evergreen Lane, 3/8/17, around 11 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a suspected DWI. The male driver refused to cooperate with the officer’s verbal commands and locked himself in the car. Eventually officers made entry into the car, where the suspect continued to resist. Rene Portillo, 27, of Springfield was taken into custody, treated for minor injuries and taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with driving while intoxicated (2nd within 5 years), two counts of obstruction of justice and assault on law enforcement.
BURGLARY: 7100 block of Strathmore Street, 3/7/17, around 6 p.m. We responded for a report of a burglary. The homeowners arrived home from work and saw a window open. A few video games were taken from the house.
BURGLARY: 7400 block of Add Drive, 3/7/17, around 7 p.m. We responded for a report of a burglary. The homeowners arrived home from work and saw the back patio door open in the basement. Several items were out of place, but the only thing reported missing were a few beers.

BURGLARY/ARREST: 1700 block of Beaver Circle, 3/8/17, around 3 a.m. A homeowner awoke to suspicious noises in his house. Officers responded and located a 17-year-old juvenile hiding in a closet. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Reston District Station to be interviewed by detectives.
