FCPD RECAP for Friday, October 27

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

TRAFFIC PURSUIT/RECKLESS DRIVING/ARREST: Lee Highway/Pickwick Road, this morning around 12:25 a.m. An officer attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling on the roadway without a license plate. The driver took off, disregarding several traffic lights and highway signs, including speeding. The motorcyclist crashed and attempted to run from the scene. Derek Merriweather, 23, of Herndon, was arrested and charged with several traffic offenses to include felony speed to elude, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license. He was not injured from the crash, but received minor injuries when he fell while running from officers.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT ON A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/ARREST: Leesburg Pike/Crossroads Center, 10/26/17 around 9 p.m. An officer was assisting Virginia State Police looking for a motorcyclist who fled from them during a traffic pursuit. A man matching the description of the fleeing driver was stopped by our officer. While he was found not to be involved in the pursuit, he was uncooperative during the investigation and assaulted the officer several times. The officer received minor injuries. Kofi Kwarteng, 26, of Falls Church, was arrested and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of justice.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 9800 block of Hagel Circle, 10/26/17 around 5:40 p.m. Officers responded to check on a home after neighbors observed a door wide open. No one was inside, but it appears someone had been.

COMMERICAL BURGLARY: 7560 Telegraph Road (Crest Advanced Dry Cleaners), 10/26/17 between 8 p.m. and midnight. The business was broken into and money was taken.
