Fairfax County Chief Kevin Davis Announces Major Promotions
Fairfax County, VA – FCPD is proud to announce the promotion of Erin Weeks, Matthew Luik and Veva Wallace-Spaulding to the rank of Major.

Erin Weeks has been promoted to the rank of Major and will continue to serve as Commander of the Mason District Police Station. Previously, she held the role of Assistant Commander in the Violent Crimes Division of the Major Crimes Bureau. Beginning her tenure with the Fairfax County Police Department in 2006 at the Mount Vernon Station, she served in various capacities, including the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Patrol Unit and detective positions within the Violent Crimes Division. Taking on leadership roles, Major Weeks supervised at the West Springfield Station, within the Internal Affairs Bureau and the Homicide Squad.
Major Weeks earned her bachelor’s degree from Radford University and completed professional training programs such as International Association of Chief’s of Police’s (IACP) Leadership in Police Organization training, IACP Women’s Leadership Institute, FCPD’s Commander College and the DC Police Leadership Academy.

Matthew Luik has been promoted to Major of the Criminal Investigations Division within the Major Crimes Bureau. Prior to his promotion, Major Luik served as the Assistant Commander in the Violent Crimes Division. He joined the Fairfax County Police Department in 2002, starting as a patrol officer at the McLean District Station. Throughout his career, he has worked in various roles, including detective in the Organized Crime and Narcotics Division, and was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a supervisor, Major Luik served at the Sully District Station, as an assistant team leader on the Street Crimes Unit, as the team leader of the SWAT Team and as the supervisor of the Special Response Unit.
Major Luik graduated from Frostburg State University and has completed several professional development programs, including the IACP’s Leadership in Police Organizations training, the Fairfax County Leadership Track, FCPD’s Commander College, and the NTOA SWAT Command and Decision-Making School.

Veva Wallace-Spaulding has been promoted to Major of the Special Investigations Division of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau. Major Wallace-Spaulding has served with the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) since 2007. She’s held numerous patrol and investigative positions in the Mount Vernon District. She later worked as a patrol supervisor, an Investigator with the Internal Affairs Bureau, and has led the FCPD’s recruitment and retention efforts. She went on to become the Assistant Commander of the Mount Vernon District Station and, most recently, the FCPD School Liaison Commander. Major Wallace-Spaulding has been involved with the Public Safety Cadet Program (formally Police Explorers) since 2012 and currently serves as a Commander for the unit.
Major Wallace-Spaulding has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master of Professional Studies from George Washington University. Her notable leadership training includes Emerging Leaders Institute, the Institute for Leadership in Changing Times, and IACP’s Leadership in Police Organization training.
