Update: Crime Solvers Tips Lead to Arrest in Aggravated Assault of Bus Driver

Franconia Police District – Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a man in connection to the aggravated assault of a bus driver in Lorton, thanks to tips submitted through Fairfax County Crime Solvers.

On July 8 at 7:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of Gunston Cove Road and Cranford Street in Lorton for the report of an assault. The victim reported that while on his regular bus route, an unknown suspect boarded the bus and assaulted him. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following our press release and canvassing efforts by detectives in the area surrounding the assault, tips were received through Fairfax County Crime Solvers. Through those tips, detectives identified the suspect as 18-year-old Javantai Johnson, of Lorton.

On July 19, detectives located Johnson in the Stone Ridge neighborhood in Loudoun County. Our Violent Crime Suppression Unit (VCSU) coordinated with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Johnson.

Johnson was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding. He was held on no bond.

This is another example of a case quickly closed thanks to relentless investigative work and community tips through Crime Solvers.

Detectives Seek to Identify Suspect Who Assaulted a Bus Driver in Lorton

On July 8 at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Gunston Cove Road and Cranford Street in Lorton for the report of an assault. The victim reported that while on his regular bus route, an unknown suspect boarded the bus and assaulted him. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
